Description

Republic Act 9208 established policies to prevent trafficking in persons, provided penalties for those who violate the law, and created institutional mechanisms to support and protect victims of trafficking. Republic Act 9208 defined trafficking in persons as an illegal act that involves the recruitment, transportation, or harboring of people without their consent or knowledge. This act was later amended, in 2012, by Republic Act No. 10364.
