September 2014 – While the abduction of over 200 girls from Chibok in April 2014 has shed some light on how children are affected by the conflict in northeast Nigeria, most violations against children remain poorly understood, documented, and addressed. This report examines how boys and girls have been forcibly recruited, detained, abducted, raped, and attacked at school. With limited data, capacity, resources, and strategies to support children affected by the conflict, one mother from the northeast asked Watchlist, “Who will care for us?” That question must still be answered.
