After being nominated for the prestigious “Human Rights Tulip” award for its innovative Children and Armed Conflict Smartphone App, Watchlist competed in a 2-week public voting round, making the top three finalists at 855 votes! The Human Rights Tulip Award is sponsored by the Netherlands Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Hague Institute for the Internationalization of Law (HiiL), and is intended to recognize and encourage organizations using innovative ways to promote and defend human rights. A professional jury will evaluate the finalists to select and present them to the Netherlands Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Winning the competition would enable Watchlist to expand and scale up its Smartphone App, with a particular focus on increasing its relevance to child protection specialists in the field. The Minister of Foreign Affairs will present the award to the winner of the competition on 11 December 2013.
