July 2026 – The Vancouver Principles Self-Assessment Checklist is a practical tool for countries to evaluate their implementation of the Vancouver Principles on Peacekeeping and the Prevention of the Recruitment and Use of Child Soldiers. Structured around three core areas — Policy, Preparedness, and Operational Practice — the checklist guides users through key questions on national doctrine, training, diplomatic engagement, and in-mission child protection practice, with reference to the corresponding Principles and Canada’s 2019 Implementation Guidance. It is designed for use by both endorsing and non-endorsing countries, and can support gap analysis, inter-agency coordination, and advocacy for endorsement.
