March 2021 – In a joint statement delivered during the Interactive Dialogue with the Special Representative of the Secretary-General for Children and Armed Conflict (SRSG-CAAC) at the 46th Session of the UN Human Rights Council, six international civil society organizations – including Watchlist – call upon the SRSG-CAAC to commit to substantive efforts to ensure that country teams are adequately capacitated and resourced on the gender dimensions of CAAC, and increase efforts to properly reflect the lived realities of girls in armed conflict, and prevent and respond to grave violations against them.

The organizations call upon UN Member States to support and adequately resource the Monitoring and Reporting Mechanism (MRM) and call upon parties to conflict to cease the recruitment and use of children, including girls no matter their role, and to unconditionally release all children in their ranks.
