(France Diplomatie) – On the occasion of Universal Children’s Day on November 20, France calls for further international mobilization to protect children and promote their rights. France works constantly at the international level toward increasing the protection of children in armed conflict. A multilateral monitoring and reporting mechanism on the violations of children’s rights and a Security Council Working Group on monitoring these violations were established on our initiative. In February 2007, France, in partnership with UNICEF, hosted the “Free Children from War” conference, which made it possible to adopt the Paris Commitments and the Paris Principles.
