(War Child UK) – The upsurge in violence in Iraq this week has sparked a child protection emergency. Up to half of the people forced to flee their homes since fighting erupted in the northern city of Mosul are children. Further displacement is expected in the coming days. As violence spreads many civilian casualties are expected. There have been reports of children injured in an attack on a school, and forced to witness atrocities. There have also been more accounts of recruitment of children and young people to fight.
