(Save the Children) – The besieged Syrian town of Moadamiya undergoes its second phase of evacuations today as opposition fighters and their families leave the area. The area has been under siege since 2012 with children living in increasingly desperate conditions, without regular access to food, clean water and medicines. Save the Children is calling for safe passage for any children who may join their families in Idlib, and for aid to urgently be distributed to the families that remain in the town. Over the last four years Moadamiya has undergone regular bombardment and artillery fire. Today (Wednesday) evacuations are already underway to designated camps in Idlib, with families of fighters expected to follow soon after.
