(OHCHR) – The Committee on the Rights of the Child today concluded its consideration of the combined third to fifth periodic report of the Democratic Republic of the Congo on its implementation of the Convention on the Rights of the Child, as well as its initial report on the implementation of the Optional Protocol to the Convention on the sale of children, child prostitution and child pornography…The strategy and plan of action to fight against sexual violence had been adopted, and since the appointment of a Special Representative to fight sexual violence and child enrolment in armed groups, the rate of sexual violence had been reduced by half.  Significant progress had been made in the fight against the recruitment of children in the armed forces, since the signing of the plan of action with the United Nations in 2012.
