(Child Soldiers International) – The trial of a former commander in the Lord’s Resistance Army (LRA) charged with 70 counts of war crimes and crimes against humanity at the International Criminal Court (ICC) in The Hague started on 6 December 2016. Dominic Ongwen’s case presents particular challenges owing to his status as a former child soldier, which raises questions as to how he should be treated in judicial proceedings.
