On 25 March 2015, the Security Council held an Open Debate on Children and Armed Conflict under the Presidency of France. For a second year in a row, this was the first of two thematic debates on children and armed conflict to be taking place in a calendar year. The second open debate for 2015 is anticipated to take place in June, following the publication of the 14th Annual Report of the Secretary General on Children and Armed Conflict.
The March 2015 open debate did not result in an outcome document, but on the request of France, will be followed by a non-Paper summarizing actions Member States proposed in their statements for how to engage armed non-State actors on children and armed conflict.
