Ajedi-KaIn July 2014, the Secretary General issued a periodic report on children and armed conflict in the Democratic Republic of Congo. The Security Council Working Group on Children and Armed Conflict has the responsibility to review the report and adopt conclusions with recommendations addressed to parties involved in the conflict.

On this occasion, Watchlist invited its partner AJEDI-Ka to participate in a joint advocacy mission to New York to share the conclusions and recommendations of a policy brief on the status of implementation of the Action plan to end and prevent recruitment and use of children, and rape or other forms of sexual violence, signed by the Government of the DRC and the United Nations in October 2012.

In partnerships with the Permanent Missions of Canada and Luxembourg to the United Nations, Watchlist organized a briefing to inform the members of the Group of Friends of the children and armed conflict agenda on the situation of children affected by the armed conflict in DRC. The visit was also an opportunity for AJEDI-Ka to complete bilateral meetings with targeted members of the Security Council Working Group on children and armed conflict to further influence the conclusions on DRC.
