Description

Under Israeli legislation, a newborn must be registered in the Israeli Resident Registration system. If the birth occurs in a hospital, the hospital is responsible for the registration within 10 days of the birth. In cases of births outside of hospitals, such as home births, the parents are required to complete the registration within 10 days.

This general rule is significant for determining the age of children, as accurate registration is essential for legal and administrative purposes, including establishing when a child reaches the age of majority. This information is particularly relevant in contexts such as identifying when a child is no longer considered a minor or a child, ensuring compliance with both domestic laws and international obligations regarding the protection of children in armed conflict, including the recruitment and use of children.
