Watchlist on Children and Armed Conflict (‘Watchlist’) is selected by The Funding Network-New York (TFN-NY) as an organization to support at their 11 March 2015 crowdfunding event. Watchlist is one of only three organizations that are selected by The Funding Network to present its work on 11 March – an event that raised a minimum of $15,000 for participating projects last October.
An arm of a London-based organization championing a crowdfunding phenomenon worldwide, TFN-NY hosts three events per year devoted to subjects related to advancement of social good (i.e. human rights, development, health, education) that support non-profit organizations making unique and credible contributions towards that end. It engages and inspires individuals to join its membership, and to invite friends to events and recommend organizations among other kinds of support. It also partners with a circle of founding corporate supporters who sponsor events and encourage employee teams of giving.
The 11 March event is one such occasion for members to raise their hand in support of the selected organizations who will make 6-minute presentations, followed by questions and answers. The presentations are followed by an auction-style fundraising session, and everyone in the room can raise a hand to give a minimum of $100. The overall aim of bidding is raising a minimum of $10,000 for each organization in a celebratory manner where members can feel they are making a meaningful difference.
Anyone can choose to become a TFN member. Information about the event and TFN can be found at this link, and Watchlist is honored to have this opportunity.
