(Columbia Reports) – Almost half of the approximately 8,000 fighters in the FARC were recruited by the rebel group as minors, according to a university study on Colombia’s largest guerrilla organization. After studying official and FARC documents, and interviewing guerrilla deserters, the Bogota-based Sergio Arboleda university concluded that 47% of the FARC’s current fighters entered the group when they were still under 18.
