Watchlist on Children and Armed Conflict is pleased to announce that it was recently awarded funding from the Government of the United Kingdom for a pilot project aimed at strengthening civil society participation in the UN-led Monitoring and Reporting Mechanism (MRM).
The project will allow Watchlist to disseminate the content of its Resource Pack for NGOs on civil society engagement in the MRM through trainings targeted at NGOs. The trainings will be conducted together with local actors mandated to implement the MRM in five countries: Central African Republic, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Mali, Myanmar, and South Sudan. Through its engagement with NGOs participating in the MRM in various contexts, the project will also offer an opportunity to gain further knowledge on the implementation of the MRM. All lessons learned will be incorporated in an updated edition of the Resource Pack, which will be published in 2015 in English, French and Arabic.
