Upon receiving user requests for an online version of its Smartphone Application on Children and Armed Conflict, Watchlist worked on developing a website that is now live at https://watchlist.org/caac-smartphoneapp/overview.html and can also be accessed on Watchlist’s homepage under the ‘Resources’ tab! With over 4,000 downloads to-date since its launch in 2012, Watchlist’s app is intended to provide policy-makers and those seeking to influence them with readily available documents and language on child protection issues. It seeks to ensure that important progress achieved within the UN’s Children and Armed Conflict Agenda translates into the negotiations of Security Council resolutions, the mission mandates of peacekeeping operations, and criteria for sanctions committees. The app is available for download for Blackberry, iPhone and Android. Earlier this Fall, Watchlist participated in a competition for the Human Rights Tulip award for its innovative app winning a public vote.
