Legislation
1975
The law mandates that children enroll in compulsory public education, including elementary and middle schools, from the ages of six to 15 years, with some exceptions, such as serious mental or physical disabilities or severe diseases. Foster parents and guardians are responsible for registering their children in the education system and ensuring their regular attendance in school. Failure to do so may result in penalties, including fines and/or the loss of certain governmental rights and privileges.
Although child labor is entirely prohibited for children who have not completed their compulsory education, the law provides certain exceptions, including obtaining authorization from the relevant authorities and ensuring that the working conditions enable them to continue their mandatory education phase (Article 11).
