Description

This law addresses the reintegration of former members of illegal armed groups on Colombia. Provisions with particular relevance to children include the following:

  • Article 38 addresses victim and witness protection, taking into consideration factors such as gender, age and health, as well as the type of offense, including instances of sexual violence and violence directed toward children.
  • Article 39 addresses exceptions that can be made to the public nature of trials, in particular, taking into consideration victims of sexual assault, as well as children and adolescents who are victims or witnesses.
  • Article 41 states that judicial bodies and other entities will consider the special needs of women, children, older people and people with disabilities during judicial processes.
