These Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) were adopted in 2014. As the introduction to these SOPs notes, “This document sets clear systems, roles and responsibilities for all institutions involved in the prevention, protection and response to GBV in South Sudan. This document is in line with the Republic of South Sudan Legal and policy frameworks and other international frameworks such as the Inter-Agency Standing Committee (IASC) Guidelines for GBV Interventions in Humanitarian Settings, UNHCR’s Sexual and Gender-based Violence against Refugees, Returnees, and Internally Displaced Persons, and Guidelines for Prevention and Response (Geneva, UNHCR 2003). Effort has been made to ensure standards and procedures are articulated for all forms of GBV.”[1]
