April 2017 – The report from Watchlist’s December 2016 policy workshop “Priorities for the UN’s Children and Armed Conflict Agenda, 2017-2018,” hosted jointly with Princeton University’s Liechtenstein Institute on Self-Determination, was issued as an official UN Security Council document (S/2017/345). The workshop convened representatives of UN Security Council Missions, other UN Member States, relevant UN departments and offices, and civil society, to discuss specific, concrete, and targeted actions that can be taken within the framework of the UN Security Council’s Children and Armed Conflict (CAC) agenda. More specifically, it aimed to facilitate input for agenda-setting for the Council’s Working Group on Children and Armed Conflict under the 2017-2018 chairmanship of Sweden, and included three working sessions dedicated to (1) a CAC agenda introduction, (2) the Security Council Working Group on Children and Armed Conflict, and (3) a thematic discussion on addressing attacks on education and health care in armed conflict.
