Eva Smets is the Director of the Watchlist on Children and Armed Conflict.
Prior to coming to New York, Eva spent six years in conflict settings in Central and East-Africa (Democratic Republic of Congo, Uganda, Kenya and Sudan). She held several field-based positions in humanitarian advocacy for non-profit organizations such as Oxfam and CARE. She also has extensive lobbying experience, including in New York, Brussels and Geneva.
Eva holds an M.A. in human rights and democratization, issued by the University of Padova, Italy, and a degree in history from the University of Brussels in Belgium. Eva is Belgian and lives in Brooklyn, NY, with her husband and son.

Severine Chevrel is the Capacity Strengthening Projects Officer. As the Capacity Strengthening Projects Officer, Severine works with local organizations in the Democratic Republic of Congo, Nepal, Thai-Burma border, Colombia and Chad to increase their capacity to document and respond to grave violations against children in armed conflict and advocate for stronger child protection policies.
Previously, Severine was the Project Coordinator of the Inter-Agency Child Protection Information Management Consortium with Save the Children, the International Rescue Committee and UNICEF. In this position, she worked to build NGO and UN staff capacity through trainings and technical support in multiple countries, including Nepal, Myanmar, Sri Lanka, Chad, Uganda, Liberia, Ivory Coast and others.
Severine holds a four year Master's Degree in Mathematics Applied to Social Sciences from Dauphine University (Paris, France), as well as a Master's in Business Administration (MBA) from EM Lyon Business School (Lyon, France) and a professional certificate in Non-Governmental Organizations from New York University's School of Continuing and Professional Studies. Severine is French-American and lives in Brooklyn, NY.

Yvonne Kemper is an Officer with the Watchlist on Children and Armed Conflict and in charge of all aspects of preparing the Watchlist’s country reports. In her prior post as a Child Protection Advisor in the United Nations peacekeeping mission in the DR Congo (MONUC), she was in charge of monitoring, reporting and denouncing the  grave human rights violations against children in North Katanga. Having worked as a consultant on children and youth in conflict contexts, she has a broad experience in devising guidelines, trainings and research studies for international organizations and research institutes, including co-authoring a study on the EU’s approach to children and armed conflict for the UN Institute for Disarmament Research (UNIDIR). She holds a Master’s degree, focusing on conflict management, humanitarian concerns and human rights, from Georgetown University’s School of Foreign Service and a Master’s degree on international peace and conflict studies from the Institute for Peace Research and Security Policy at the University of Hamburg. Yvonne is German-American and lives in Brooklyn, New York.
